Mission: Impossible + Fast and Furious crossover event when? Tom Cruise is throwing big Dom-Toretto-FAMILY attitude in the new trailer for Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, though he never actually says “family.” But he doesn’t accept that his team might not all survive, and you know he really means it because he does that tough-guy-hiding-emotions jaw clench. (Sorry, Vin Diesel, but Tom’s jaw clench is just a smidge more convincing.)
What’s this movie about? Oh, fate of the world, some guy who thinks fates are already written, maybe he has a real AI or Skynet or something? War is coming, I guess? It’s not really relevant. What’s relevant is Tom Cruise driving a motorbike off a cliff and everyone in the cast getting their turn at making a dramatic face in close-up.
Here’s the summary:
Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission — not even the lives of those he cares about most.
Cruise is the only actor whose name appears in the trailer, but this Mission also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Hayley Atwell, Henry Czerny, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, and Mark Gatiss. Christopher McQuarrie returns to the director’s chair; he also co-wrote the film (based on the Bruce Geller TV series) with Erik Jendresen.
Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One is in theaters July 12th.
